Ash Wednesday Service

Ash Wednesday is a day of observance that marks the beginning of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting, repentance, and spiritual preparation leading up to Easter Sunday. Ash Wednesday is a:

  • Reminder of Mortality – The ashes symbolize human mortality and the biblical phrase "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return" (Genesis 3:19). This serves as a reminder of the temporary nature of life.
  • Call to Repentance – Ash Wednesday encourages believers to reflect on their sins, seek forgiveness, and turn towards God. The ashes are often applied to the forehead in the shape of a cross as a sign of repentance.
  • Symbol of Humility – Receiving ashes is an act of humility, acknowledging human frailty and the need for God's grace and redemption.

Please join us on February 18 from 7:00PM-8:00PM as we walk through these concepts together.
