Have you ever wondered why some children—or even adults—react so differently to the same situations? Why certain behaviors seem confusing, frustrating, or “out of place”? So often, the answer lies in understanding trauma. When we recognize how trauma impacts the brain, relationships, and a person’s ability to regulate and respond, we begin to see people not as difficult, but as deeply valued individuals carrying stories that shape how they move through the world. Gaining this insight is essential for anyone who serves, teaches, or interacts with others in the church, especially our kids and students.
We invite you to join us for a special 2–2.5 hour trauma-informed ministry training led by Natalie Kuhn, a certified affiliate trainer with Trauma Free World. Over lunch, Natalie will walk us through the prevalence and impact of trauma, how to use a trauma-informed lens in everyday interactions, and what it looks like to adjust our expectations and methods in ministry settings. This training will be practical, interactive, and deeply helpful—especially for volunteers who have ever felt unsure of how to respond to kids who seem “misbehaving,” when in reality their brains are working hard to cope.
Each attendee will receive a printed packet, and participants may also be eligible for a completion certificate. Our hope is that this time equips our community with greater patience, compassion, and confidence as we love and serve families walking through hard stories.
