#7: Gospel Identity

Aired:
July 17, 2022
Host:
Pastor Kenneth Price
Guests:
Cody and Claudia Waters

We are looking at the summer of 2022, assessing our rhythms, and looking to address areas where we made need to press the 'pause' button. Where we need to stop and say, "Jesus, I need you in this space." This podcast is a call to the heart of our people to say "how can we be more intentional?" It's through rhythms and practices that we want to encourage you to follow Jesus's heart in a way you haven't before. And ultimately to live a more intentional and Christ-filled life.

Moments To Remember

  • "At it's core the Gospel is the fantastic news that God has decided to include us in His redemption of Creation--at His own expense even, through love." -Claudia Waters
  • "It's the idea that I am created for God. This is His Creation, this is His story, and He has chosen to make me a part of that." -Claudia Waters on rooting herself in the Gospel
  • "To have experienced and to continue learning about the power of Truth, in so far as it replaces lies, has been really impactful for me as we've gone through this." -Cody Waters on reading Gospel Fluency
  • "Me capturing my thoughts and submitting them to the will of Christ is so powerful in physically shaping my brain in new ways so that once we take that offer of that power, that redemptive work that is available to us, there starts to be visible changes." -Cody Waters on taking thoughts captive for Christ
  • "There's real Truth and there is real life change in [the Gospel]. It has to be personal, it has to be vulnerable when we share the Gospel, otherwise it's just more of the noise that people aren't interested in." -Claudia Waters
  • "Whatever fruit I am seeing in myself that is lacking--when I really look at who God is and what He has done for me and how He pours himself out into me, I can't help but to start seeing myself that way." -Kenneth Price

Resources

scripture

  • "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith,as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” -Romans 1:16-17
  • "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. -Ephesians 2:8-9
  • "We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ..." -2 Corinthians 10:5
  • "And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart. As you enter the house, greet it. And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town." -Matthew 10:11-14

QUOTES

  • "Preaching the Gospel to myself each day mounts a powerful assault against my pride and it serves to establish humility in its place, because nothing suffocates my pride more than daily reminders regarding the glory of my God, the gravity of my sins, and the crucifixion of God's own son in my place." -Milton Vincent
  • "Gospel fluency begins in you, gets worked out within community, and then is expressed in a world that needs to hear about Jesus." -Jeff Vanderstelt
